Facilities & Programmes
Wellbeing & Safety
Mental wellbeing is supported through a formal School Counselling Policy. A school counsellor is a core member of the pastoral team and engages students through PSHE lessons, assemblies, drop-in sessions, and planned meetings. Defined referral pathways exist for staff, families, and self-referral (Melilas students). The policy covers confidentiality, crisis management, a signposted mental health helpline, and referrals to external practitioners for specialist support. Staff wellbeing and professional supervision are also highlighted.
Panaga School maintains a Safeguarding Policy and a Counselling Policy that integrates safeguarding procedures. Referral pathways to external agencies are documented, with senior leaders (Deputy Principals and Principal) involved in complex cases. Confidentiality is balanced with safeguarding duties, with defined processes for sharing information with staff and external professionals. An open-door policy exists for students in distress, with a structured chain of communication with parents where safety is involved.
