Admissions Details
HIS operates a wait pool when classes are full and no additional sections can be added. Priority is given to children of faculty who cannot attend local schools, children of foreign nationals who cannot attend local schools, and siblings of enrolled students, followed by other considerations such as language profile, English level, intended start date, and grade demographics. Parents in the wait pool should maintain regular contact with Admissions.
School Day
Classroom instruction begins at 08:00 and ends at 15:00 for all grades. Grades 1–12 students should arrive at the Main Campus gate by 07:55. ECE (Early Years through Kindergarten) parents may escort children to the ECE gate between 07:45 and 08:15.
Student Life
Lower School (ECE–Grade 5): light blue HIS polo shirt with navy trousers/shorts/skirt or navy HIS dress; navy fleece or HIS hoodie permitted in cooler weather; laced shoes required. Middle School: tan shorts, trousers, or skirts with a navy blue HIS polo shirt (short or long sleeve); navy fleece or HIS hoodie permitted; laced shoes required. High School (Grades 9–12): tan shorts or trousers, or plaid skirts (girls), with a light blue Oxford cloth button-down shirt with HIS logo; navy fleece, HIS hoodie, or HIS Letterman's Jacket permitted; laced shoes required. One startup uniform set is included in fees for new enrolments.
Daily lunch is included in the published school fees. Students enjoy meals at the HIS cafe on campus.

Wellbeing & Safety
HIS operates a Counseling and Wellness Program using the CASEL framework and ISCA student standards. Services include individual counseling, small group sessions, and whole-class/seminar lessons covering transitions, personal health and safety, conflict resolution, and life beyond school. Counselors are qualified to administer psychological evaluation tools. Parent seminars and lectures are also provided.
HIS publishes a Child Protection Guidelines document (updated January 2024) covering child protection beliefs, reporting procedures, safe recruitment, code of conduct, and curriculum responsibilities. A Child Protection Response Team includes all counselors, division administrators, and the school nurse. The Designated Child Protection Officer is Upper School Psychologist Dr Ryan Beddows. Policy aligns with WHO, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and Chinese law.
